Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium?
The pupil premium grant (PPG) is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to help schools to deliver evidence-based approaches for supporting disadvantaged pupils to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers; and to support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces.
How do you know if your child can access this funding?
From September 2014, all children who are in reception, year 1 or year 2 in a state-funded school will be offered a free healthy school lunch. All children are able to buy milk through the schools payment scheme.
Pupil Premium funding is given to schools based on eligibility for Free School Meals over the last 6 years (excluding the infant free school meals provision). Your child will be eligible for Free School Meals (and additional Pupil Premium funding for the school to support your child) if you or your partner are receiving any of the following benefits:
Registering for Free School Meals could raise money for your child's school. Registering for free meals and pupil premium could raise an extra £1,480 for your child's school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching support staff or after school activities.
It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals/pupil premium as this involves more than a free school lunch and the will receive extra funding to ensure your child gets additional support.

The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and is used to support children who are entitled to free school meals, who are looked after children and children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces ensuring equality of opportunity.
