The Pupil Premium

The pupil premium grant (PPG) is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers; and to support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces.

How do you know if your child can access this funding?
From September 2014, all children who are in reception, year 1 or year 2 in a state-funded school will be offered a free healthy school lunch.  All children are able to buy milk through the schools payment scheme.

Pupil Premium funding is given to schools based on eligibility for Free School Meals over the last 6 years (excluding the infant free school meals provision).  Your child will be eligible for Free School Meals (and additional Pupil Premium funding for the school to support your child) if you or your partner are receiving any of the following benefits:
  • Income Support.
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income of £16,190 or less, as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs

Why register?

Registering could raise money for your child's school.  Registering for free meals and pupil premium could raise an extra £1,300 for your child's school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching support staff or after school activities.

It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals/pupil premium as this involves more than a free school lunch and the will receive extra funding to ensure your child gets additional support.

For further information contact the school office or follow the link below:

The Pupil Premium is additional to  main school funding and is used to support children who are entitled to free school meals, who are looked after children and children whose parents are  currently serving  in the armed forces ensuring equality of  opportunity.

Planned use of pupil premium 2020/21

The school has published its pupil premium strategy for 2020/21 which includes the following:
- the current impact of pupil premium funding
- the school's current and predicted pupil premium grant allocation
- a summary of the main barriers to educational achievement faced by eligible pupils at the school
- how we will spend the pupil premium to address the barriers and the reasons for that approach
- how we will measure the impact of the pupil premium
- the date of the next review of the pupil premium strategy.
