Community Events & Fundraising

Here at Trinity, we feel that it is extremely important to support and be an active member of our local, and global, community. Throughout the year, we participate in a range of community events and charity fundraisers to promote community spirit and global citizenship.

Trinity Values: Respectful, Compassionate, Global Citizens

Fairtrade Fair
As part of our Fairtrade and Farming topics in the Spring Term, we held a Fairtrade and Farming Fair to raise money for our link school in Uganda, Nyakeina School.
We sold fairtrade crafts from Uganda, sold cakes made with fairtrade and local ingredients, sold fairtrade hot chocolate and coffee, and we held a raffle with fairtrade hampers donated by local Co-ops after pupils wrote letters to the local supermarket chain.
A great event which raised a total of £406!
World Heart Day
We started World Heart Day being well and truly ‘shaken-up’ in wake-up, shake-up to get our hearts pumping!
Children learnt about the heart during the day and we finished with the heart-themed tuck shop.
We raised £214.50 for the British Heart Foundation.

Parish Council Time Capsule
Our ambassadors represented the school to bury a time capsule with Ford Parish Council representatives to mark the King’s Coronation in Ford village. All classes prepared documents to go into the capsule to show and tell future generations what life was like at Trinity Primary School in 2023.
Christmas Community Lunch
Trinity invited our school governors, volunteers and west view residents to celebrate Christmas with us. Our attendees were treated to a Christmas lunch followed by a special Christmas show, performed by our Drama Club, Singing Club and Instrumentalists. It was a fantastic afternoon, bringing our school community together in Christmas spirit.
Jubilee Artwork
As part of the local Jubilee Celebrations, we were asked to produce artwork for the Ford Village Hall to commemorate the special occassion. All our children were involved in the production of each canvas and they have been installed at the front of the Village Hall for the entire community to enjoy.

Christmas Cheer Film
The amazing Trinity Singing Club were invited to take part in a ‘Christmas Cheer’ film being produced by Shropshire Music Services. The film is going to be sent out to local care homes across the county, for the residents to watch over the festive period!

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, we have not been able to take the children in to sing at our local care home like we normally would, so this is a great way of keeping connected with our community!
RND 21 - 'Sharing a Smile'
To raise money for Red Nose Day 2021, the school held a Joke competition, sharing smiles and laughter in classes in round 1, and then between classes in a special virtual assembly in the grand final. Well done to everyone who entered - we raised over £180!
Yockleton Grange Carols Performance
Our Y5/6 members of Singing Club performed at Yockleton Grange (Residential Home) to spread some festive cheer in our local community on the final day of term.
Some of our members of Singing Club even had the chance to sing to their great grandparents which was a moment to cherish by all.
Well done to our Singing Club.

Shrewsbury Foodbank
Once again, we were extremely pleased to be able to support the Shrewsbury Foodbank Plus again this year by collecting a range of foods to complete the 'Reverse Advent Calendar' which will contribute towards 460 hampers that will be given out to families that would otherwise struggle over the Christmas period in Shrewsbury and the surrounding villages.
Darren Edwards World Marathon Challenge
Trinity were set the challenge by Darren Edwards, a disabled adventurer, to run 180miles collectively, as a school, over the week that he completed the World Marathon Challenge: 7days, 7continents, 7 marathons.
Darren completed his challenge and so did Trinity, raising £1025 for Darren's charity to help fund his next community project. Darren came in to speak with the children about his challenge which was very inspiring.

Children in Need - Big Breakfast
Our wonderful kitchen staff organised a Big Breakfast to raise money for Children in Need.
All our families who attended enjoyed the morning, left feeling full and were raring to go for the day, whilst raising a great sum of money for a great cause.

Wildlife Project

We are extremely grateful to the Parents 'Working Party' and the Connexus Develpoments 'Working Party' who gave up their time to help complete Phase 1 & 2 of our Wildlife Project. They have done a fantastic job in helping to make our Wildlife more accessible for all children to use in the future.

Spreading some Christmas Cheer
Our Class 5 Singing Club sang a range of Carols and Christmas songs, socially distanced, to our West View local residents, spreading a little bit of festive cheer in our community, which was much appreciated after a difficult year. We also delivered small Christmas gift packages to each resident which was fundraised by the school. One resident said, "It surely was uplifting to see the young folk so happy and cheerful during these gloomy times."
Omushana Charity - 'Fun with Books'
Earlier this year, Trinity children donated books for the Omushana 'Fun with Books' project. Gill, who leads the Omushana Charity in Shropshire, explained how these books reach Uganda and how they will be enjoyed by numerous communities in rural areas which have had new libraries built. Please read the Newsletter for further information.

Shrewsbury Foodbank
We were extremely pleased to be able to support the Shrewsbury Foodbank Plus this year by collecting a range of foods to complete the 'Reverse Advent Calendar' which will contribute towards 150 hampers that will be given out to families that would otherwise struggle over the Christmas period in Shrewsbury and the surrounding villages. Approximately 250 children will also receive their Christmas gifts from the scheme too.
Macmillan Cancer Research Fundraiser
During the festive period, we have been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Pupils made donations to have a special bauble put on our Macmillan Christmas Tree. We have raised over £700 for the charity. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
