VALENTINES TREAT FOR TRINITY
On Thursday 14th February (Valentines Day) Trinity and Pontesbury battled it out at the top of the table. It was a tough pitch to play on as it had potholes everywhere.
After five minutes of rough action, Trinity took the lead through Erica who slammed the ball into the bottom corner. This was a deserved lead and was made even better when Bethan made it 2-0 with a rocket of a goal after an amazing delivery by Maddy, our captain. Within minutes, Bethan finished off a lovely move started by Hannah, our goalkeeper, to make it 3-0. Trinity looked to be heading for a comfortable win.
The second half was quieter; however, Pontesbury were on their game and forced some brilliant saves. They made the game even closer with two goals that squeezed past the Trinity goalkeeper. Sadly for Trinity, Maddy was denied a goal when she was dribbling up the field and suddenly tripped over a pot hole filled with twigs and stones. Overall, Trinity won out with a 3-2 scoreline.
After the match, Trinity captain Maddy Thomas announced, “It was a great performance by the Trinity girls and we are delighted to be top of the table.”

TRINITY TIE TWO – TWO
On Thursday 14th February, Trinity took on Pontesbury in a battle of the top two tremendous teams in the Rea Valley Football League.
To start off the match, Pontesbury took the kick-off but Trinity fought back for the ball. Frank Marston scored a marvellous goal with his left foot to make it 1-0 to Trinity, leaving their hopes high. They extended the score to 2-0 as Morgan Whitley scored a goal after chipping the goalkeeper. Trinity were in a good position as the half time whistle blew.
Unfortunately for Trinity, Archie Stackhouse scored a free-kick from just beyond the halfway line to make it 2-1. The score was then evened up by Archie Stackhouse who scored his second of the game with five minutes left to play.
After the game, Trinity’s towering captain Josh Carr said, “It was an even game but we should have come away with the three points.”

Terrific Trinity Tag Rugby
Trinity Primary School entered a team into the Large School Tag Rugby
competition at Prestfelde school. Eleven teams entered: Oxon, St Georgeʼs,
Meole Brace, Harlescott and many more talented teams. However, Trinity
amazed spectators and won all their games, except from St Georgeʼs who
equaled their competitiveness. Their captain, Joshua Beck, explained, "We
dominated each game and deserved to win." Overall, Trinity displayed
incredible skills and came joint first with St Georgeʼs. Now, we will combine
teams with St Georgeʼs to represent Shrewsbury in the county finals in March
2019.

TREMENDOUS TRINITY
TAG RUGBY!
Trinity C.E Primary School competed in the Small Schools Tag Rugby tournament against many other Schools across Shrewsbury. They played at Prestfeld School against many local Schools: Crowmoor who they beat 7-1; Longden which was a decent team but they still crushed them 6-2; Wilfred Owen was the toughest team (apart from Trinity) and they only just beat them 5-4. "Our team played extremely well and our passing was on point. Our players played really well!" said Rohan France. The overall winners were Trinity B team by winning every game they played - which they deserved. "I was pleased that we won the tournament. It was really enjoyable," said Jasmine.

TRINTY TWISTERS TRIUMPH
On Tuesday 22nd May, Trinity Twisters travelled from Ford to Alberbury Cricket Club to compete in the Kwik Cricket tournament against other local primary schools. Luckily, the weather was on their side: it was a glorious summer day. After they had settled, they played their first game against Long Mountain Bumblebees which they won by seven runs. When the second match had finished against Pontesbury, the scores were unfortunate as they had lost. Their third game determined who was through to the final, playing against the other team from school (they took two teams). After great teamwork and alot of determination, the Twisters pulled it back to win their game against the Tornadoes and went on to play against Pontesbury Panthers... again... in the Final. During the final match, Mr Pittaway encouraged from the side lines," Great fielding; let's get some catches now!" The Twisters started off very slow in the Final, as they were caught out 4 times in the first 3 overs, but pulled it back and added 29 runs to their score. The scores for the final round were counted up and, unfortunately, the Twisters had come Runners-up. The girls were each awarded a silver medal (they had come second) and after the presentation they had group photos with their team and the rest of the Trinity teams. The Trinity Twisters had a great day out at the Kwik Cricket competition and all, had a lot of fun.

TRINITY COUNTY CRICKET!
On Wednesday 21st June 2017, Trinity Primary School boys played in the County Cricket tournament at Wellington Cricket Club, Telford.
The first game they played was against Newcastle-under-Lyme with Ross Barnes and Jack Parry batting first. They hammered the ball out of reach over the boundary many times during the match. Next up was Aiden Pugh and Alex Littlehales; they defended most shots and pulled some fours out of the bag! The penultimate batting pair from Trinity was Robbie Coutts and Harry Price. Smashing fours and sixes into neighbouring pitches, Robbie and Harry were ecstatic with their performances. Finally, Leo Davies and Callum Slater stepped up to the bowler- a very gifted player. Unfortunately, Newcastle did not have the benefit of Mr Price’s outstanding bowling technique.
With Trinity gaining their first win, they had a tough match up ahead- Greenfields. They had a very strong team and Trinity weren’t very confident about winning; it shows as they lost by over 80 runs! Moreton Saye were up next and they had won both of their gamed and seemed very confident. But they were beaten by 52 runs by the mighty Trinity!
Into the Semis!
On run average, Trinity won and beat Greenfields into the semi-finals. There was to be a couple of tough games ahead. They played an incredible team in the semi-final but only lost by a 12 run margin. In the 3rd and 4th play-off, they played Worfield. Unfortunately, it was not to be in this game but Trinity had finished fourth in the county!

Trinity Girls at Greenhous Meadow!
On a Saturday afternoon, 6th of May, Trinity’s Girls Football team attended the County Plate Finals at Greenhous Meadow, full of anxiety and emotion.
As they entered the vast, famous stadium, the girls (Alanah Carr, Grace Benniman, Grace Peplow, Jess Satoor, Lilly Paddock, Tilly Owen, Phoebe Bright and Charley Glover) were directed – by Mr Pittaway – to the slightly smelly changing rooms to get prepared for the match. As time went by, the previous match had finally ended and they were allowed to warm up.
Prepared and ready, the girls lined up in the tunnel and took a quick picture to capture the experience they were about to discover. Soon, everyone was in position and the familiar sound of the whistle blared out and the once-in-a-lifetime match began…
With Alanah in goal, almost falling over with adrenaline, the match began and didn’t start the best. Charley, who plays upfront, tackled the main player who, unfortunately, passed to another player, causing the opposition to score the first goal of the match.
The everlasting matches went on like this, to and throw between both teams until midfielder, Jess Satoor, passed to Charley Glover who smashed it into the back of the net. What a Goal!
But it wasn’t over yet, with the opposition up 3-1.
At the end of the game, Trinity lost 5-2 but still received a medal for coming second in the county!
“Such an amazing experience.” explained Grace Benniman, out of breath from running rapidly around the massive pitch.

Trinity’s Awesome Athletics
On Thursday 19th January, we took part in the Shrewsbury School Games Sports Hall Athletics tournament at Sundorne Sports Village. In the competition, competing alongside 15 other Schools such as: Pontesbury, Meole Brace and Coleham, we finished a respectable 6th place. The pupils who attended this competition were: Robbie Coutts, Aiden Pugh, Alfie Millman, Charley Glover, Leo Davies, Jess Satoor, Grace Benniman, Nuala McGoldrick, Rhys Phillips, Jack Parry, Ross Barnes, Oliver Bright, Tilly Owen, Lily Rauch, Lilly Paddock and Aleksa Sumska.
There was a range of small field activities combined with track sprinting relays. Many of our pupils gained a top 3 certificate. These were: Robbie and Aiden who finished second overall in the Paarlauf (6 laps) race; Charley Glover who finished 2nd in the 1 kg chest push; and Lily Rauch, one of our youngest pupils who attended the races as a Year Five, who finished 3rd in the speed bounce. The field events were: javelin, speed bounce, standing long jump, vertical jump and chest push. The track events were: one by two lap race, two by two lap race, one by four lap race, two by four lap race and six by two lap race which Robbie and Aiden ran and came 2nd place in. Trinity were lucky enough to receive certificates as some schools didn’t even receive one!
It was a fun day for all of the pupils and hope that we can attend it again next year. Mr Pittaway and Mr Price came to watch and looked after us and were very pleased with our school and very proud that we did so well against some much bigger schools!

TRINITY TAG RUGBY TRIUMPH!
On a muddy pitch Trinity B took part in the small schools tag rugby tournament on Wednesday 2nd November. It was a cold day with lots of different schools taking part despite the weather.
In the group games, we had to play Martin Wilson and Longden B and played Martin Wilson in the final which we won 8-7. It was a very close match as it went to ‘golden try’ with Jake scored the winning try.
The team was: Leo Davies (captain), Oliver Bright, Alfie Millman, Jake Williams, Matilda Owen, Rhys Robinson and Grace Peplow.
Also taking part in the County Schools competition was Trinity A. They won all their games in their group against many other –bigger- schools. Unfortunately, they just lost in the quarter final against Longden A with only a try separating the two outstanding teams.
It was a very tiring yet exciting afternoon with lots of fantastic tag rugby performances which ended in Trinity bringing back yet another title! They will now go through to the County Small Schools Competition for the fourth consecutive year!

Fantastic Female Football!
On Saturday 7th May 2016, seven fantastic footballers enthusiastically played in their Small schools final at the Greenhous Meadow (the new Meadow).
When everyone had arrived, photographs were taken outside the stadium with Mr Pittaway, Mr Price and Mr Pullen (our coaches -who never gave up and always give it there all). During this morning, the girls played St John the Baptist in two 15 minute halves. As half -time approached, Charley Glover scored with an outstanding goal in bottom-left corner to make it 1-0 to Trinity. A few minutes later, Millie Pullen came running down the pitch to score another amazing goal, making it 2-0 as the whistle blew at half-time.
In the second half, the other team scored a lucky goal against our goalkeeper (Emma Trow). Due to some fancy footwork from the team, Charley was one -on -one with the goalkeeper so she took a shot which made it 3-1. Victory was in the girl’s hands, making Mr Pittaway one happy man!

ARE COUNTY ROUNDERS CHAMPIONS
After a long, hard and tricky day at Prestfelde, we managed to go through to the small school county games final representing Shrewsbury. We only lost one game against Prestfelde themselves and achieved a fantastic 8 wins. Consequently, this took us to the county games at Shrewsbury sports village.
On a cloudy warm June day, with no rain in sight, we headed to the Sports Village fields where the games began! Unlike the first qualifying game at Prestfelde, we hit the ground running and left the other teams in our wake. We had some sharp, focussed fielding which meant that second base was hard for the opposition to reach due to good bowling and fielding from the Trinity team.
Overall, we feel that we deserved the mighty win over Shropshire and the title of County Champions!

County Rugby Champions!
Trinity are champions yet again! On a muddy, wet day at Shrewsbury Sports Village, we conquered all the other teams from throughout Shropshire with some outstanding, gutsy tag rugby. We played against North Shropshire, Telford and South Shropshire and won all but one game, drawing the other.
“We were all ecstatic with our performance!” Captain and Vice-captain Jack Smith and James Coutts both exclaimed.
The day ended with a presentation of some shiny, extravagant medals and lots of smiling, happy faces.
