Our Journey Days

Every Term, we choose one of our school values to explore during a 'Journey Day'.

Each Journey Day begins with collective worship to introduce the value chosen and then pupils explore what the value really means through a range of engaging activities throughout the day.
Autumn Term 2025

Value: Respectful & Global Citizens

Our Journey day on Tuesday 11th November, as part of inter-faith week and rememberance, was linked to value of being Respectful and Global Citizens.

We started the day with a special inter-faith themed collective worship with Reverend David who discussed the shared values (faith, hope & love) of the 3 main Abrahamic faiths.

Pupils then rotated around 5 inter-faith themed activities throughout the day in mixed-aged groups (Rec-Y6) to explore the similarities between world religions and worldviews, including:
- Symbols of Faith
- Faith in Food
- Faith in the Forest
- Faith in Effort
- Faith in Remembrance.

We held a 2minute silence to pay our respects during Remembrance day.

We finished the day recapping what we had learned in each activity and thought about 'being the best we can be' by understanding different faith and worldviews.
Spring Term 2025

Value: Respectful

Our Journey day on Monday 31st March was linked to our value (and one of our school rules of being) Respectful.

Pupils were separated into 5 groups (mixed-up from Rec to Y6) and rotated around a variety of activities during the day, learning about being Respectful members of our community and in society.

The activities included the following:
· Collective Worship (Luke 6:31 'Treat others how you would like to be treated')
· Activity 1— What does the bible say about Respect? (The Good Samaritan)
· Activity 2— PSHE (Respect Comic Book: 'What if everyone said that?')
· Activity 3— Respecting Nature (Forest Schools Pond-dipping)
· Activity 4— Respect in Sport (Sportsmanship)
· Activity 5— Mutual Respect (British Values)
· Collective Worship (Discussing and reflecting upon the day).

It was a great day - and we even found new creatures in our school pond which we have not found before, including 'Case Caddis Fly Lavae' aka. 'Walking Leaf'!
Autumn Term 2024

Value: Inquisitive

Journey day in the Autumn Term 2024 was linked to our value of being Inquisitive with a focus on Celebrations Around the World.

Children were separated into 5 groups (mixed-up from Rec to Y6) and rotated around the activities during the day, learning about various celebrations across the globe.

The day included the following activities:
· Collective Worship (introduction to Celebrations around the World)
· Activity 1 – Diwali – Professional Indian Dance Workshop
· Activity 2 – Christmas Around the World—Christmas decorations with Christmas wishes
· Activity 3 - Thanksgiving—the ‘thanksgiving tree’ - what are we thankful for
· Activity 4 - Hanukkah—dreidel—a traditional Jewish game played during Hanukkah
· Activity 5 - Loy Kathrong– floating lamps
· Collective Worship (to discuss the day and end-of-day quiz)

Pupils were inquisitive about other faiths and religious festivals, learning about other cultures and beliefs, and celebrating diversity across the world. Pupils were able to spiritually develop through a growing awareness of self, others, beauty and beyond through the various activities.

The Indian Dance Workshop leader said that ‘it is the best school she has worked in’ and she was ‘impressed by the pupils behaviour and level of participation’ - well done Trinity for being ‘the best we can be’!

It was a great success and our pupils had a fantastic day!
Summer Term 2024

Value: Resilient

On Monday 1st July our Journey Day focused on our school value of being Resilient linked to the Olympic Games which are being held in Paris in Summer 2024.

Our day began with a special assembly with an exclusive promo video of the Olympic Games and what it means to be resilient like a past Olympian - Eric Liddell, 'The Flying Scotsman', who competed in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris (100 years ago).

Our pupils from Reception to Year 6 were mixed-up into 5 mixed-aged groups to rotate around 5 activities throughout the day under the theme of the Olympic Games and being Resilient:
1. History of the Olympic Games—Much Wenlock
2. Resilient Olympic Athletes
3. How to be Resilient in Sport & Life
4. Olympic Games Values—Excellence (Be the best you can be), Respect & Friendship
5. Olympic Games Resilience Running Challenge

It was a super day, but an exhausting one after completing the running challenge! Well done Trinity for showing great determination and resilience!
Spring Term 2024

Values: Compassionate

This term's Journey Day – linked to our value of being Compassionate – had a focus on protecting the planet and our environment.

This also coincided with World Book Day so most activities had a book linked to our theme for the day as a stimulus for each session. Staff and pupils dressed-up in ‘green’ for our environmental focus or a ‘book character’ as it was World Book Day! Sarah Corkhill, a local artist/author, also came in to read her new story about recycling which was fantastic!

The day began with a special assembly, with a reading of the Creation Story and how God wants us to look after our planet, and then pupils rotated around 5 activities throughout the day       including the following: The Big Plastic Count, Maggie the Magazine by Sarah Corkhill - local author/artist, Plastic Pollution, Fashion Recycling - Where do my clothes come from?, and the Forest Book - Protecting Nature.

It was an excellent day, learning about ways to be compassionate towards our planet and how to look after our environment for ourselves and future generations.
Autumn Term 2023

Values: Healthy & Global Citizens

This Journey Day explored our values of being Healthy and Global Citizens under the theme of the Rugby World Cup in France (Mr Pittaway couldn’t let the opportunity pass!).

We started the day with a Traditional French Breakfast and pupils, parents and staff came to school wearing the French flag colours of red/white/blue, or a rugby kit, or traditional French attire e.g. beret, etc.

Pupils participated in a collective worship which reflected upon the Fiji Rugby Team's Christian Faith with pupils singing their victory song: 'We have Overcome' which gives thanks to God.

Pupils then mixed-up across the classes into 5 groups to rotate around the 5 activities which linked to the theme of the day, including: First Aid, French Healthy Cooking, Tag Rugby, Design Your Own Rugby Jersey, French Language & Culture, and Rugby Themed Music & Dance - World in Union, Haka and Fiji Victory Song.

It was a fantastic day, celebrating the Rugby World Cup and French culture!
