Policies and Procedures for parents
Illness
If your child is ill, please follow the advice from Public Health England, using the poster and/or website below:
It will provide details of common childhood illnesses and tell you whether they need to miss school and for how long.
There is also useful information about immunisation. If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, please telephone the office. We encourage parents to organise medical/dental appointments outside of the school day. Where this is unavoidable, please ensure that you contact the school office. Medicines at School
If your child is required to have medication administered in school, please complete the permission form and send it in with the medication.
The form can be downloaded here or a hard copy collected from the school office.
Please note, we are unable to administer medicines (prescribed or non-prescribed inc. Calpol) if the permission form has not been completed and signed.
Absence in Term TimeThere are 190 school days in one academic year.
There are also 175 days of weekends and school holidays for families to enjoy together. If a child misses just one day a week through primary school, they will have missed the equivalent of 1 year's education by the time they start secondary school. As a result, the school does not authorise family holidays in term time. If a child does need to be absent for school for a reason other than sickness absence, parents are asked to complete a form which is available on request from the school office. For more information about absence in exceptional circumstances, the school's absence in term time policy can be downloaded from this page from the list of policies on the right-hand side. |
Below are key policies that are statutory to present online and/or useful for parents/carers to view. This does not represent the full range of policies in school. For more information, please contact the school.
