Monday, 14th March
Morning everyone!
English - today we are going to write a persuasive argument - Boys and girls in Class 5 should not do PE together. I know you may not agree with the statement, but you will need to think of some arguments for this and make your case. Remember - opening paragraph, 3 points, with evidence to back them up, then a conclusion. The conclusion is the most important part today - remember to restate your three main points, briefly, and then make a statement to try and get the reader to agree with you.
Maths - we are looking at capacity and volume this week. Today in class we will be measuring capacity in millilitres or litres so I would like you to find 5 or 6 containers, estimate how much they could hold, then measure them, by pouring water into them, and measuring the amount of water they will hold. Record the amount in both millilitres (e.g. 675 ml) and litres (0.675 l).
You could make a table to record your results.

English - We are going to look at some poetry this week. Today we are going to be thinking about personification. Personification is when you give an animal or object qualities or abilities that only a human can have.
The first poem (Fog) has a type of personification, though it is not a person the fog is compared to. Explain how the poet creates a picture in our mind -and what that picture is.
The second poem -'Two Sunflowers move in the Yellow Room'- contains more obvious personification. Highlight or underline the personification you can find here.
Finally, spot the personification in the final - very familiar - poem.
