Good morning all!
So, since yesterday's challenge we have now established that being resilient means when an individual has the ability to recover from any given challenging situation. For example, in whole school assemblies, we have shared challenges that we have individually faced when: learning in lessons, at clubs etc and discussed the importance of persevering and showing tenacity - in order of not being defeated and giving up.
Being able to bounce back from challenging situations, requires 'optimism', an 'I can do this' mentality - it's about changing your mindset. A mindset of resiliency that deeply believes: I can try again, things will get better, I can and will succeed.
Therefore, instead of saying "I failed. I am a failure." Our optimistic mindset will be saying, "Yes, I failed but I can try...and try again until I succeed because I have what it takes." This is what showing resilience means and is all about.
Little Miss Resilient's Quest
To research a famous person e.g. an engineer, a scientist, an athlete or an actor who faced many challenges and failed on lots of occasions but through resilience and optimism finally got there in the end and felt the taste of sweet success, which is the BEST feeling ever - especially when you've worked hard to get the results. These individuals are our role models, our inspirations.
To share your thoughts and research work, post in the comments box below as we'd love to hear what you've been getting up to.
